Short Breaks in Devon

Besides farming, tourism is one of the two largest industries in Devon, so there is a wealth of good quality short break accommodation to choose from. Tighter regulation of premises has meant that many poorer establishments have dropped out of the picture so guests can rest easy knowing that the boiler isn't going to blow up in the middle of the night.

As with everything else in this world, you get what you pay for and, while there are many perfectly adequate establishments charging under £50 per room per night, some of the more up market boutique places to stay for a short break can be as much as £90, especially if they are by the sea.

Although there is a huge selection of short breaks in seaside resorts and country villages, some of the very best are still to be found on farms where accommodation is spacious and the quality of food is superb.

Going for a short break in Devon is still popular with the many visitors who are literally on touring breaks and don’t want to be stuck in one place. This particularly applies to Devon because there is so much to see and getting everywhere on day trips can be a tiresome affair with all the narrow, winding roads one encounters in the county.
